The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. A motion was made by Amy Kuhnel and seconded by Tim Wisner to not read the Minutes of the last meeting. The motion was passed. Karen Sasine attended the meeting for the first time. She has been sailing as crew with club members on different boats.
Chris gave a shout-out to Steve Trofemuk and Bruce Lane for putting together a great Low Country Boil celebrating Labor Day. 16 people attended the event.
Steven Gunter stood up and thanked everyone who has been helping him and Renae complete the renovations to their Catalina 25. They are getting ready to launch their boat Saturday, September 26, 2026.
Vice Commodore Steve Trofemuk
The next and last Raft Up is September 26 at the AYC Cove meeting at 5:00 p.m. This will be a Full Moon Raft Up so plan to say onboard your boat with the group.
The Chili Cookoff is October 10th at 5:00 p.m. at Chris and Susan’s home.
The Fall Colors Cruise is Friday, October 23rd to Sunday, October 25th. This date is also on the SWSC Facebook page under “Events”. The first night will be at Red Top Mountain but we are not to get there to tie up until after 5:00 p.m.
Commodore’s Ball is Saturday, November 7 beginning at 5:00 p.m. social time and dinner at 6 p.m. A Save the Date evite will be going out soon.

Andy won the Half Yard Race at 55 minutes but Suzanne was close with a time of 56:32.
Upcoming races are:
Fall Race #2 – 9/12/26, #3 9/19/26 and #4 October 3, 2026. Races 2 and 3 are back to back due to Full Moon raft up/overnight on 9/26.

Officers for 2027 – Please be thinking about who would like to serve as an officer in the Club. Elections will be held at the October meeting. The following persons have been nominated to run:

A discussion was held concerning the Fleet Captain position. It is very demanding and time consuming for one person. We discussed re-implicating a Regatta Committee in an effort to reduce the workload and time commitment of the fleet captain. Discussions are on-going.

The account balance is $XXXXXXXX. There are 28 paid members for 2026.
Knot Talk: None.
New business. Ed Combs suggested that the club begin going to different events in the area and having a SWSC booth to encourage new membership. Karen Sasine volunteered to help with social media advertising and any art work needed.
Old business: None.
