Minutes from meeting: February 12, 2026

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
A motion was made by Amy Kuhnel to waive the reading of the minutes. It was seconded by Steve Trofemuk and the motion was passed.
There were four persons attending the meeting for the first time. Kinsey and James (experience in sailing sunfish) and wanting to learn to sail bigger boats. Joseph, who owns 2 sailboats and wants to get more sailing experience, and Tallon, who also wants to sail more. All were invited to come and crew on other boats on race days so they can experience sailing in different boats.
The Commodore’s Ball has been set for November 7, 2026. We will use the same location as last year. Bruce is securing this date with the catering company, Seasoned by Seymore.
Chris would like to try again to have a shoreline raft up party. He is doing recon to identify protected spots where the boats can beach. He asked if anyone knows of a good location to please contact him.
There is a Bitter End race scheduled for February 28, 2026. An evite will go out.
Vice Commodore Steve Trofemuk
Steve is in the process of scheduling a St. Patrick’s Day party on March 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Donovan’s Irish Cobbler. An evite will go out.
The St. Thomas cruise is scheduled for April 24 – 26, 2026. We have approval to spend Friday night at Victoria Harbor. Those who will not be sailing can just meet for the dinner. Saturday morning the Skipper will decide whether we go NE towards Sweetwater Creek or West toward Turtle Rock. This all depends on the direction of the wind.
Fleet Captain Bruce Lane
Bruce went over the race results from Frostbite Race #2. Frostbite race # 3 was canceled as the weekend was extremely cold with no wind. There was no interest for a Monday sail.
Frostbite Race #4 is scheduled for February 14, 2026 with the skipper’s meeting at 12:00 p.m.

Club dues are payable now. We have 15 members who have paid. We have a balance of $XXXXXX.
Knot Talk:
Tim Wisner gave a presentation on racing rules. The SWSC racing is governed by International Sailing Federation Race Rules of Sailing, prescriptions of U.S. Sailing and the SWSC Sailing Instructions on our web site. Tim went over who has right-of-way in different racing scenarios.

Steve made a motion to end the meeting and Bruce seconded. The meeting Adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
