Minutes from meeting:  June 11, 2026

Commodore Chris Behnke

Vice Commodore Steve Trofemuk

Fleet Captain Bruce Lane

Purser Brian Kuhnel

Yoeman Becky Combs

Commodore Chris Behnke

The meeting was called to order at 6:58 p.m. A motion was made and seconded to not read the Minutes of the last meeting. Stephen Flint and his wife attended the meeting as guests.  They purchased the Catalina 250 last year from a former club member. They were welcomed. Chris spoke about the Florida 120, a sailing adventure in Pensacola each year in the month of May where the goal is to sail 120 miles in three days.  Chris, Brian and Scott Behnke participated along with Bruce Lane and Tim Wisner. The weather was great and the sailing even better.  Unfortunately for Chris Behnke, his trailer tires blew out at two separate times. Good that he had Tim Wisner and Bruce Lane caravanning with him and assisted him by providing a spare tire.

Vice Commodore Steve Trofemuk

Steve mentioned that the “Sunset Cruises” are back on Thursdays. Those who want to take a mental health evening after work is invited to enjoy lake sunsets. Some leave at 5:00 p.m. to sail and others later. No set time.

There is a July 4th picnic scheduled for Saturday, July 4th from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Harbor Town Picnic area.  This should not conflict with Allatoona Yacht Club’s fireworks display as their website is showing fireworks on Friday, July 3rd at dark.

There is a raft up on June 20, 2026.  Steve mentioned the August 4th raft up will be during a full moon, an extra plus for staying all night.

Fleet Captain Bruce Lane

Bruce is still working on the result for the Spring series. Four boats participated in Summer Race 1.  Due to light winds, two boats backed out and the race was between Suzanne and Scott’s boats. Suzanne’s boat came in before Scott’s boat. The Skipper Meetings for Summer races begin at 10:00 a.m. as it should be a little cooler sailing.

Purser Brian Kuhnel

Brian was not in attendance so there was no financial report.

Knot Talk:

There was a discussion on trailer maintenance and the importance of having good tires on your trailer. Trailer tires are good for 3-5 years from manufacturing date. Make sure when you purchase tires, you are getting new tires and not tires from surplus. Before trailering your boat, check your hubs and tires. It was also mentioned about adding a second tie down on your trailer, one at the bow and one at the stern. If road is under construction and your trailer bounces, your boat can move off kilter a little.

New business.  None

Old business: None.

Sea Scouts – Gary HolcombNot in attendance.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
