SOUTH WINDS SAILING CLUB

Minutes from meeting:  October 9, 2025

The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m.

 

A motion was made by Amy Kuhnel to waive the reading of the minutes. It was seconded by Steve Trofemuk  and the motion was passed.

 

There were no new guests attending the meeting.

 

There will be a Chili Cook-off, Saturday, October 11 at 5:00 p.m. at Chris and Susan Behnke’s home.

 

Fall Colors Cruise will be Friday, October 24th through Sunday, October 26, 2025. An Evite will go out shortly. We will meet Friday evening around 5:00 p. at the dock at Red Top Mountain. It will take about an hour and 10 minutes from Harbor Town to motor or sail over. We plan on sailing Saturday and will head north up Stump Creek in the late afternoon to find an overnight anchorage. It will take about 2-1/2 hours to get back to Harbor Town.

 

Vice Commodore Steve Trofemuk

 

The Commodore’s Ball will be held November 8, 2025 beginning around 6:00 p.m. at the same location as last year. An evite will be going out soon.  The cost of the tickets may go up due to prices for food being higher than last year. There are people to help set up which will start around 12:45 p.m. This will take about 1-1/2 hours.  After the event, people are asked to help with the taking down of the tables. There will be a gift exchange with presents in the $20-$25 range.

 

Christmas Dinner – We are planning on meeting on December 11, 2025.  Time and place still to be determined. An evite will go out.

 

Fleet Captain Bruce Lane

Fall Race #4 had four boats and 3 races. Andy came in first in all three.

 

October 18th is the Turtle Rock Race. Skippers meeting is at 10:00 a.m.

 

It was discussed at the meeting of adding an “assistant or Co-Chair Fleet Captain” to help with all the races and the set-up. The Fleet Captain handles 19 races a year. The By-laws has a section on racing which we will review and discuss.

 

Knot Talk – nothing this time

Elections – As we did not have any new nominations for officers for 2026, A motion was made to keep the current officers in office for 2026.  The motion was passed.
