The Lake Hartwell cruise took place this past weekend. Mike McKay joined Chris Behnke on his boat. Tim and Kim Wisner were joined by their daughter Lilly on their boat. The Western Carolina Sailing Club invited our club to launch and retrieve our boats from their facility in Anderson. Good sailing, a surprise storm at anchorage, and good memories.
In March, Michael Fricker at Atlanta Yacht Blub was looking to rent a trailer for a Bristol 22 (4.5’ draft). Mr. Fricker is donating the Bristol to any one who wants it.
We still have a few burgees left for $17.80 each. See Chris for a burgee.

Knot Talk - There was a discussion on lessons learned from the Florida 120 and Lake Hartwell Cruise. Chris learned at the Florida 120 that a wing keel requires a different technique to unground off the sand than fixed keel. The tide surprised Chris and he found himself aground on the sand once the tide went out. After 1-1/2 hours of trying different tactics, he was able to free his boat. Tim talked about needing a stern and bow anchor, knowing the tides and water depths. Also, trailer maintenance was discussed. It is a good practice to maintain and prepare your trailer before taking off on a trip. Otherwise, there is a possibility of you sitting on the side of the road with a tire or axle problem.
Purser Brian Kuhnel
Brian gave a financial report that we currently have a balance of $XXXXXXXXX
New business.
There was no “new” business.
Old business: nothing discussed.
Sea Scouts – Gary Holcomb. Sea Scouts have a Catalina 22 for sail. The trailer is in good shape. Facebook market place value is $2,500.00
Meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
