January Letter from the Commodore

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. I also hope that "Spending more time on your sailboat" was one of your New Year's resolution. Southwinds Sailing Club is here to help you keep this New Year's resolution. Joe is working up raftup dates that soon we will be asking folks to volunteer to host. Looking forward to the Gully's Pirates Raftup, the Kohler's Octoberfest, the Carter's Jimmy buffet raftup among many others. Our Vice Commodore Joy and Fleet Captain Ed are working up a preliminary race schedule to present to the regatta committee. If you are an active racer, please contact Joy to be a part of this committee. I am working on a couple of other projects that I will reveal later.

Perhaps the biggest change this year is in our monthly meeting which we are moving back to the second Thursday of the month and holding in a private room at Guston's grill off of Highway 41 in Acworth. As this first meeting I am going to be looking for people willing to help Brad with the foghorn committee to help increase involvement of current members and bring in some new members to the club.

I don't have anything more for this letter other to say that I am planning to take advantage of the warmer weather we are forecasted to have this weekend to spend a little time on the lake. Isn't it wonderful to live in the south!
